Cruising the Chilean Fjords (Part I). Puerto Chacabuco, Chile.
We will travel the Chilean Fjords for more than 2,000 miles to the South, over eight days, to reach the southernmost tip of land on earth. Our first port stop is Puerto Chacabuco, Chile, and a ride inland to the city of Coyhaique. It’s an early stop, just 4 days in, most likely to give passengers some time on land as they develop their sea legs.
Today’s fun fact. Most of the Chilean Fjords are only accessible by boat. In addition, since you cannot navigate them safely as they are treacherous in the winters, the Austral summer is the only time you can visit them and only via expert captains, teams, and pilots and therefore they are largely preserved, untouched, and home to large numbers of wildlife.
Before we begin. A few ‘firsts’ pictures of landing aboard the ship. The stateroom, dining rooms and meals, etc. We had some exceptional dining experiences early on aboard the Oosterdam.
My First: Picture of the Day.
All of the subsequent pictures of the day will be of Mother Earth. But today, it’s my gal, at our first fine dining experience at the Pinnacle Grill.
Onward to Chacabuco. And, into the heart of Patagonia where we will spend the next several days.
Today’s Moment of Zen.
The waterfall we encountered on our way to Coyhaique. Take it full screen with sounds for your 10 seconds of zen for the day.
